Adhesives in classical building material testing are tested both for their solidification time and for their strength. For this purpose, the adhesive tensile strength or shear strength is tested.

The setting times are often tested with automatic Vicat devices according to EN 196 T3, with the needle, or according to DIN EN 13279-2 with the dipping cone. The challenge here is the strong adhesion of the material to the penetrators, which can only be achieved with effective automatic cleaning. The tensile adhesion test is usually carried out using mobile hand-held devices, usually up to 20 kN. In the case of high test volumes, testing machines with large frame dimensions are also used in order to be able to position large-format specimen carrier plates individually under the force axis.

Haftscher testing is carried out according to various standards in various fixtures, usually in testing machines.
