Deformation-controlled compression and extension tests are performed to determine the mechanical properties of aluminum. The maximum force during deformation of the material is measured and a visual inspection of the specimen deformation is performed.

For these tests, the extremely rigid ToniNORM (600 – 2000) kN loading frames with a fixed top compression plate are used. Deformation is measured using an inductive piston displacement transducer. The loading rate for this application is in the range of 100 mm/min- to 300 mm/min in bending.
