Steel

Concrete has high compressive strength but low tensile strength. Therefore, it is reinforced by embedded steel. Reinforcing steel is mainly produced in diameters from 5 mm to 60 mm. Smaller diameters are further processed into mats or lattices before the concrete is poured.

Applications include building construction and civil engineering projects. Typical tests are tensile, flexural, shear and fatigue tests.
